Why does my GT630 hate me?

uniquename 6,899 615 October 19, 2015 at 05:19 PM
Nvidia, driving a 4K TV over HDMI. Suddenly, no display. I can see it in safe mode, and as it boots. Rolled back driver, updated driver. Called it a few names.

Win7 (32 bit) driver ver 340.52 DX ver11

I've gone to VGA and it does 1920x1080 in regular mode. It's a cheap card...I'm not wasting time troubleshooting unless someone has a glimmer of hope. I know the HDMI didn't go out, I know the card works, and the "monitor" works. Just no 4K.

It hates you because it's not a GT960.

Do you have the Vendor_ID and Product_ID (VID/PID) of the card?

Seems like you're using a older driver. Try the latest direct from Geforce site: 358.50 - WHQL [geforce.com]

Okay, so it's a generic Vendor_ID value, any idea about the specific Product_ID value? Sometimes manufacturers "one off" crap, and the drivers don't recognize the part correctly. That's what I was trying to confirm by asking for the VID/PID of the card.

Any luck with the latest drivers?

Happily back on 4K over HDMI. Had to install drivers twice...once was a fresh/clean install. One day working, next not...I have to assume I got a windows update that wasn't welcomed.
