This is more or less the spec that I want, but over $1000 than Surface Book that I was planning to buy. What do?

Do you really need a surface book? This is cheaper and it even has a synaptics active digizer, so for $35 you can get the Dell or HP active sylii and use it within apps that support pressure-sensitive pen inputs.

The only difference is that the screen doesn't come off and the warranty on this one is only 90 days.

Wife enjoys the idea of having an option to convert Book to light tablet, with supposedly one of the best stylus in the market (allegedly). And the screen resolution is far more superior.

Me, personally, I just like Book because I like coolest computer-related gadgets. But for over a grand less, this Spectre will serves its purpose as super lightweight, non-crap laptop.

I loved my surface pro 3 and the 4 will be great but I am currently selling it and going back to a laptop. In theory its nice to have the option of a tablet but I don't think Ive used it. I also got it for the stylus so I could take notes at work but the stylus couldn't keep up. it's hard not to recommend it because I think its a great device but this hp might be the perfect middle ground.

Just my 2 cents, everybody uses their machines differently.

I bought this the last time they had this deal and have absolutely no complaints. Amazing laptop, I get complements all the time from people in a college dominated by people with Macs, and it is wayy cheaper than a remotely similarly priced Mac and more functional (and dare I say more elegant too).

How come is Dell XPS 13 being hailed as King of Ultrabook, while this Spectre X360 looks pretty sexy as heck, plus it's a 2-in-1?

Don't forget to add refurbished in title. 90 day warranty. Still a nice deal just not as slick.

Well they're very close. If you want a pure laptop go with the Dell XPS 13. It's smaller, lighter, easier to carry around, has better battery life. If you want a 2-in-1 get the HP Spectre but it's going to be bigger, heavier, and worse battery life. My biggest complaint about the HP Spectre is the horrible trackpad. They did themselves a disservice by going with Synaptics drivers instead of using Microsoft Precision drivers. I owned the Spectre for about a week and tried to put up with the trackpad but no matter how much I changed the trackpad settings it was still a bad experience. YMMV but to me that is why the Dell XPS 13 is the better notebook. And if you think about it, the whole idea about the Ultrabook is to be thin, light, and have really long battery life which is everything the Dell is.
