This was a popular deal in March for $99.99 but not so popular with the recent Sam's Club deal for $99.99. Sam's Club reduced the price to $89.99 but I didn't see anything posted about it.

Freedompop is selling the same for $59.99 on ebay. I found it because of my 5x Ebay Bucks email today (YMMV), and I had been previously eyeing FP's $89.99 one on ebay. I was surprised to find they dropped the other listing from $99.99 to $59.99. If you have the offer, that's another $6 back in Ebay Bucks.

Please come check out the FreedomPop Friends Thread To get extra data for free... (takes 2-3 minutes)

I've got several other devices from FP and they are fine. But if you don't want to pay for any any extras, make sure to choose the free plan before the end of your first month. There's plenty of posts on SD about how to do that in under 5 minutes.
If you're getting multiple, I'd suggest you use 3 different email addresses. Things get messy with their system if you put more than one device on the same account.

careful with freedompop devices.. some times they come with chunks missing ect.. certified preowned means they certify someone owned it before..thats it..

there QC is pretty much non existant.

for instance I purchased a "new" freedompop hotspot from newegg.. it came back a used damaged device. the replacement was the same showed sign of use and even the default login was changed..

I purchased a "certified preowned" htc evo from freedompop directly.. it came missing the wireless and bluetooth antannea..

others get chunks missing out of the side etc.. just a heads up...and make sure you disable ALL the hidden charges.

I suppose where its ebay .. you could open a claim if they send you half a device but its not worth the hassle. playing the return game with them is like playing russian roulette..

I've never dealt with freedom pop before. Could I get 3 of these for my three children or is there some catch with freedom pop?

I've been looking for a good deal on a larger tablet. But to get one with free data, I might have to bite anyway. I'll need to research this particular tablet first. Thanks OP!

Thank you so much! I went ahead and ordered them. They will mostly be used on wifi at home, but it will be nice for the kids to have some internet access while we are out as well.

500MB will go fast. If you add some freedom pop friends you can extend that 500MB into 1GB of free data every month. Google freedompop friends there is a thread on slickdeals with info on it.

The catch of freedompop is that they make it easy to leave paid services active if you don't read carefully. But I've had no charges to my CC with 2 hotspots, 2 usb dongles, and 1 phone. I would advise you set the data limits in Android to 450MB (or 950MB if you max your friends), since another way FP gets money is from overages (there is a few hours delay in data reporting from Sprint, so even though they disable your data 100MB before hitting the limit, you can easily blow through a lot of data in that delay, paying per MB over the limit). I keep a valid CC on file in case of overages, because if they try to authorize a charge and it fails, there have been reports of them just canceling your account without recourse (you are stuck with a wifi only device if they do that). They also cancel your account on a chargeback, so definitely use the FP rep here on SD for customer support if you value the free data.

I second the suggestion of 3 different email addresses. I have all my devices on different email addresses, so they can be each other's friends and transfer data around. As for your research, I have been waiting for this to be available outside of Sam's Club's walled garden (and for it to be cheaper, the cheapest was $89.99 on Monday), because it has Samsung Multi Window. I tried to use my FP ZTE Force with XHaloFloatingWindow instead, but the small screen size made it hard to interact with. That and the Galaxy S line of phones (with Samsung Multi Window) all use AMOLED, which are susceptible to screen burn. This uses a regular TFT.

This seems to suggest that it comes with free 3g like the phones.

Our tablets have the same plans as our phones, so 3G is included for free.
