I love my ZTE Force as a very trusty back up device to my daily driver(Nexus 6 on AT&T). This Kyocera has so much better specs, I wish I could justify spending another $40 on a better "back up". LOL

For anyone tempted to try FreedomPop out, honestly it's been a pretty good experience for me. I've only had a couple tiny billing hiccups which have been fine in the end.

not bad phone. It's a little bit heavy, but pretty solid. Pretty responsive I paid $40 last time.
Cheaper now...

I wonder if they lowered the price because of the Google Play issue? Anyone know it is anywhere near being resolved?

All that has been said is what @KyoceraMobile has tweeted saying they are close to finishing a fix and should be done "soon" Who knows when that will be.

Can you explain how does this work is it better than ring plus is it a mvno? Or it requires me to be on the Internet? Which carrier is it based on

I have both the Freedompop Kyocera Icon and the LG Volt on Ringplus. I like the Volt better personally, the look of it and the screen size is better, it feels much lighter in my hand. For the same price I would take the Volt, without even considering the Google issue.

Both RingPlus and FreedomPop are Sprint MVNOs.

I have 4 FreedomPop devices (2 Galaxy S3s and 2 mifi devices), and have loved my service through them. The biggest perceived difference I have from my experience, is that my phone calls often suck for volume quality for the person on the other end (and sometimes my end). Rarely can the other person ever hear us loudly enough when we're speaking, even if she almost shout into the phone Frown

I think that's because FreedomPop connects phone calls with wifi calling (VoIP or SIP) rather than traditional phone reception towers (or whatever that is called), whereas I have heard RingPlus may use the more standard form of conducting calls. So it's possible RingPlus may offer a better voice call service.

That said, Freedompop's data, 500mb base free, with potentially another 500mb more per device with added "Freedom Friends" (search the forums for the thread), is exceptional and I have really loved having free data while traveling and nearly 4 gb spread over the 4 devices.

For $35, it's a really cheap investment for finding out if you like the service or not, particulary if you know how to read and find the ways to opt out of all the added features.
