Seiki 58" TV issue

xryanx 59 23 October 22, 2015 at 05:42 AM More TigerDirect Deals
So I bought the 58" Seiki TV that was listed on here a month or so ago.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applic...CatId=4717

The thing is unwatchable with animated content. The default settings cause some weird pixelated ghosting issue. When I disable the MEMC function, it becomes really jittery. Is this normal on some TVs or am I missing something?

Here is a video I uploaded of the MEMC disabled:

That sucks. I just ordered one yesterday.

I was pretty optimistic that this was a pretty good deal, but unwatchable with animation doesn't sound promising. I'll let you know how mine looks when I get it.

Can you tell me if it has the mounting holes on the back, since there's absolutely no information about this TV on the Internet and the tiger direct pictures aren't very clear.

It's one thing to have a high failure rate, I understand that is a risk, but I have an extended warranty on it with AMEX, so I wasn't too worried about that. It is something completely different where the TV more or less works but is doing something weird with how the picture is being processed.

Looks like pretty much every TV company has a terrible rating on that site.

Of course, the websites name is pissed consumer so your not going to get people who love their TV's posting on that site. Same is true if they resolve the issue, people rarely go back and report that too. Not saying the TV or brand doesn't have problems but reviews on a site like that you have to take with a huge grain of salt.

Just a quick update, I got a response from Seiki via email last Thursday. I tried calling, but the first two times my call timed out. They asked me what info was displayed when I hit the info button and what devices I was using. I could tell they were looking for an out to blame me. I responded immediately, but heard nothing back. I called again today and after 10 minutes on hold I got through and was told that they soul issue a support ticket I would get a call in the next 48 hours. I assume this is going nowhere and Tiger Direct probably won't be interested in cooperating as it is outside of the return policy (it was outside the policy before it was even delivered though thanks to slow shipping). At the very least I'm sure they'll refuse to pay to return the shipment. I'll exhaust all other routes, but I may have to look into a charge back.

At least yours made it to you in somewhat working condition.

The screen on mine was damaged, so now I get to fight with Tiger Direct to try to return this thing.

Wow, that's awful! Since you paid with AMEX though, it's very simple. You don't need to file a chargeback, you file an 'unsatisfied with quality' claim through them. They'll work it out with TigerDirect and the manufacturer on your behalf.

Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.

Not familiar with that. Couldn't find anything while googling. Any insight on where I could look at info on it?

I don't have an Amex. I actually used Amazon payments for some reason, I wonder if they have something similar.

This is really great, having to deal with TigerDirect customer service being closed on weekends to even get this return started , after their shipping took longer than it should and they shipped me a broken TV.

Meanwhile, there are other TV deals that are probably just as good or better that I'd probably be all over now.

You can initiate the return on their website, but it will make you pay for return shipping. I sent in an email explaining my whole situation, in addition to the fact they advertised the TV w/ 3 HDMI ports and 120Hz refresh rate.

cool. I got an email saying they can only give me a refund, and will have it picked up.

I guess that works for me. I still haven't seen a deal out there that fits my needs as well as this would have for this price. But then again I don't want to have the same problem you are having either. Maybe I'll just have to part with a little bit more money for something a bit better.

I just got a response from Tiger Direct refusing to return the TV because it is outside the return policy. I received the TV with only three days left on the return policy, and per their instructions I went through the manufacture first to try to fix the issue. I called up American Express and they at least made it seem like they will resolve the issue in my favor. I guess we will see.

Boy! This sounds like a major Catch 22 I feel for you guys.

FWIW, Whenever possible I pay with PayPal and I do not allow automatic withdrawal from my bank account. Instead I always use my VISA card for the extra protection it provides. If I am not satisfied I can decline to pay and that gets the credit card company involved immediately.

So far this tactic has always worked for me but it is true I have only needed to use it 3 times in the last 7 years or so.
