Sorry, you missed the deal!

Use "OCTHOME" instead of "rewardme" to get 10% back in points.

Here's the Android app permission [google.com] for those not using rooted phones.

Quote :
Version 3.5.1 can access:
Location

approximate location (network-based)
precise location (GPS and network-based)

Phone

directly call phone numbers

Other

full network access
view network connections
prevent device from sleeping
For that that have an older home, only 4 wires, No "C" wire....this is what you will need:

Venstar Add A Wire. http://www.amazon.com/Venstar-ACC...B0013LVDQA

You may find it cheaper, but Amazon is a start.

Here is the video on how to install it. Very simple, easy to do. I have used this multiple times putting in WiFi Stats, Z-Wave Stats, etc.

Remember many gas / electric providers have rebates for these. Such as vectren [vectren.com] offers $100 rebate on this model

Don't forget that DTE and Consumers Energy both offer rebates for buying WIFI thermostats. I think DTE offers $20 and Consumers offers $30 or $50

Just bought one at home Depot for $100. Haven't tried it much but am loving it knowing I can control my heating anywhere this winter.

is installation a matter of removing the old thermostat and wires and putting the same wires into the new one?

That is a good find. But how does it work exactly? Just Apply? I get rid of my water heater and I added a small unit that heats water and I gain another closet. Can I also apply for that unit? I`ll get home and I`m going to get the model.

Thanks,

Thiago

This one is WiFi programmable, it isn't a learning one, and it isn't as fancy. Plus I don't think it work with SmartHome apps like HomeKit (You can't say "Man it's hot in here" and have it turn the AC on). But you can also buy 3 for the price of 1 NEST, and this will let you remotely set your thermostat for whatever reason (I know I've hit Hold at night and left it at 72 all day while it was 110 outside, whoops.)

Does this model use a typical noisy relay where you'll hear a loud CLICK! each time the thermostat cycles the HVAC on and off?

Their to promote you to upgrades to newer more efficient devices. They just have to be your energy provider, (most gas electric companies have these programs) and be on the list of approved devices to qualify. (Some models not on the lists may quality if they have the proper features but you have to call them to confirm). You have to fill out their application and submit a copy of your invoice /receipt.

Yes it does. I've had this for a few years and just ordered a second. Definitely recommend it over a Nest (if you don't need the features it offers).
