TU OP!!

I didn't see a power adapter for use in a car, 12VDC. Anyone ever seen any solutions for adapting as a carputer?

if this is the same old DIN style laptop power adapter that previous NUCs have taken, I would assume that you can just get a universal DC laptop power adapter.

I've bought several of these NUCs and the power adapter is a 2-prong "wall wart" style,

Frys.com and pick up on store.

last time , it seemed 4-5 months ago, frys did the clearance sales on Barebone, and I3 for 150.00, I5 for 180.00, and I7 for 250.00 . I only got the i3 deal. urlhasbeenblocked and slickdeals didn't find this deal too. it is totally by luck.

Any thoughts on this for HTPC? Looks like it would work well, but see comments that Windows 7 does not work well on this which is the last version of good MCE. Guess I could do windows 8, but not sure.

I bought this a ways back and it sucks!!!!! I repeat it sucks!! I was just running windows 8 and WMC. The IR receiver disables on resume from S3 and I could never fix it. I would get at least a i3 if using it for WMC but don't count on that IR receiver.

Can this run 4k through HDMI? I can't seem to find a small barebones that has HDMI 2.0 via an integrated card.

I have a NUC with the i3, a 128GB SSD and 750GB standard 2.5" drive, and 8 GB of RAM. It absolutely flies as an HTPC running Windows Media Center in Windows 7. I have been running it for almost a year with not one hiccup. The IR works flawlessly with the Microsoft Media Center remote control. It is such an awesome setup with the SiliconDust Prime 3 network tuner cable card device.

I thought there were only a few dedicated GFX cards that support HDMI 2.0. Like the 960 and 980. I have a 750TI and it supports 4k but not HDMI 2.0 , so no 4,4,4 chroma.

Running several these at my job with Windows 7, works great. Took 20-30 mins to create a USB flash drive to install the OS, link in the OP.

4K does not blow. It's supported natively in the Braswell GPU and reviews show 4K video playback at only 10% CPU load.

4K @ 30 FPS is supported via HDMI. Movies are 24-29.97 FPS so this is perfect for movie playback.
