OKcaller.com?

Jedi5 1,354 November 1, 2015 at 06:05 PM
Anyone know anything about http://okcaller.com??

Just got a text from a random number. Decided to google the number.
OKcaller gave me the name of the person for number.

Plugged in my number, my name popped up.
Plugged in a few other numbers and names came up.
2 numbers had name and address.
Pretty scary I think.

I say scary because in the past when I've searched for a cell phone, I've never gotten
a name, let alone an address as a result.
I've gotten a city/town listed for the cell phone, never name or address.

Anyone know how to delist from this site?

Thanks.

Interesting I got just "Wireless caller" for a couple numbers I tried. Looks like one of it's sources of data is crowd sourced.

The data for my number seems to be coming from Caller ID, since I have a custom ID set in my Sprint account and that's what is showing on okcaller. So if it's showing your name, you might want to check with your wireless provider and see what ID they are sending.

It looks like if you sign up for an account with okcaller you can remove your listing.

There are other websites that might turn up a result too like whitepages.com and pipl.com
There are lots of different places that can betray your information to a site like this including: sweepstakes, websites with weak privacy policies, phone apps that access your contacts on your phone or a friend's, etc.

ok caller's info matches caller id information in some cases which is a little curious to me.

My full name is on that site. Damn those bastards.
If you can find a free CNAM lookup service (or call someone you *know* has CNAM enabled) and your name is displayed you can ask your provider to remove/change it.
