So the question I have is whether the Kinect is worth it at "any price." I don't mean whether it's built well, etc, but whether the functionality it brings is anything more than a huge gimmick. I've been interested in one ever since I got my XB1, but I've yet to see a description that didn't boil down to "it's a clever trick, but won't save you more then a second or two each day."

And I'm not griping, just genuinely unsure this brings anything worthwhile to the metaphorical table. Happy to be convinced otherwise.

if you like yelling at your TV/console... sure. that's all i've heard anybody say anything remotely good about, it the voice control. so it's basically a 100$ microphone to control your console... to me that's worthless, since my controller is always in hand while consoling... why wouldn't it be?

gimmick is gimmicky Wink

i did however like the PS3 setup, with the eye and the controller ball/stick. worked very much like the Wii controller... with the Sharpshooter gun to hold both, Killzone 3 was fantastic, really brought back memories of playing in the arcade. unfortunately the number of games that worked with it was horribly limited, and there was a bit of a learning curve that people had a hard time with. personally, i set the aim box super small and did all of my movement with the gun, worked really well. also, you had to be standing, and we all know there's nothing people like more than getting up off the couch Wink

Value is about 20-40 bucks. Cost is another thing.

OK, thank you both for the comments. That's kind of what I thought. I think I'll just save the $100 and get two more games. Good luck to those who want it, tho. Smilie

I purchased the Xbox One remote and I like the fact that it consolidated all of my remotes.. it requires the Kinect or the purchase of an IR Blaster to work so may as well go with the Kinect..

A lot also depends on what games you like.. Kinect is really good with kids..
