Got an email from Google Fiber this morning.

Hi there,
The holidays are just around the corner. Whether you're streaming the big game in HD or sharing Wi-Fi with the relatives, most of us could use a little more bandwidth in the holiday season. Which is why we're giving you a month of Gigabit Internet this November. We're making sure you have enough Internet for the whole family.

You don’t have to do or pay a thing—you’ve already been upgraded to gigabit speeds starting today! And when the month’s over, you’ll be back to Basic Internet. We hope you’ll enjoy the boost.

Questions? We’re here for you. Call us anytime at (866) 777-7550 or email or chat with us at google.com/fiber/support.

Here's to a super fast and fun November,
The Google Fiber team

First thing comes to mind is "eat your fiber". If they could just add the word "optic" then my nutrition hobby wouldn't impose on my tech side.

I wish Google Fiber would come to Miami, but I think it'll never happen. Comcast put a 300gb cap on my account, and it's $10 per 50gb over, and they throttled my download speed once the limit is reached as well. The only other 'decent' choice in my area is with AT&T @ 12mbps max for $40.

Comcast here too in Miami...opt in for unlimited..costs $30/month additional..sad state of affairs without other options

Comcrap days are numbered. Wireless 5G is coming.
http://www.cnet.com/news/verizon-...next-year/
How fast is 5G? Verizon's tests have shown a connection speed that is 30 to 50 times faster than our current 4G network, or higher speeds than what Google Fiber offers through a direct physical connection into the home, Gurnani said.

With 5G, that copy of the movie "The Guardians of the Galaxy" would zip to your device in 15 seconds instead of 6 minutes via 4G.
