Deal Alerts: Registering a Mobile Device

Laniakea 9 November 2, 2015 at 10:38 AM
Hello & greetings!

On the SD website, while setting up deal alerts, I noticed that the "Mobile" option under the "Notification Method" parameter is greyed out. When I hover the mouse over the option, the tool tip pop-up says, "No devices registered".

I looked through the account settings and other config pages but I can't seem to find a way to register a mobile device.

I do have the SD app on my mobile. However, none of the alerts I had created on the SD website (using my login) show up inside the app even after logging in to my SD profile. Please note that the "Deal Alter Notification" setting is also turned ON in the SD app.

Could someone help please in case I'm overlooking something? Many thanks!

The issue is now resolved.

It is unclear whether the following is how the *mobile* part of the deal alert notification works, but here's what I can deduce.

1. The SD app needs to be installed on the mobile device.
2. Once the app is launched, the Deal Alert notification needs to be turned ON.
3. On the mobile device's own OS/system settings, Push Notifications needs to be enabled for the SD app.
4. Now, when a new Deal Alert is configured on the SD website, the option to receive an alert notification on the mobile device may be available for use.
5. Of course, for this to work, the same user account/login must be used on the SD website and in the SD app on the mobile device.

I have these things set up as you suggest, but I still can't click "mobile" from the website, and any deal alerts I add from the website don't show up in the phone app. Deal alert created in app does show up in the website, but can't edit it to include more than one are to look for the search terms (hot deals, Black friday 2015, etc.) I'm on iOS

I am having the same problem, everything is configured properly but I am still unable to get new deal alerts to allow me to use mobile notifications. I haven't gotten a single notification through the app for a few weeks now. Using iOS.

I assumed this was meant to send a text to my mobile and was not about using an app.
I've just been looking all over in the profile settings for some way to enter my mobile info.
I was hoping this was used to send a text in the same way it seems to be meant to send an email when an alert is triggered?
Any way to use this?

We do not support SMS, unfortunately; you must use the app if you wish to receive mobile notifications.
