Better quality than Beats, probably better sound than Bose.

Personally, I prefer Bose QC 25 for traveling and comfort.

The only gripe I have against these is the custom audio jack going into the headphone.

The DT-990 are my favorite headphones. Comfortable, but big. Need an amp if using with any kind of portable device.. (Look for a Fiio or similar on Amazon.) These are in a completely different (much better) league than Beats or Bose. Once you listen to something like these, or a good pair of Audio-Technica headphones, you'll know what I mean, and never use Beats or Bose headphones again.

The exception to this is probably the Bose QC series. Not for their sound, but for their noise canceling (if that's what you want) which is second to none. Also quite comfortable.

These are a great price for the dt990s. Several months back we had to do a rebate to get them at this price. Well worth the investment.

these are not noise cancelling, so can't really compare against qc25, those are designed to keep noise out and have battery even?

these don't have custom audiop jack? just a 3.5mm one with 1/4" adapter?

i'm interested in a close pair of headphones -- are the DT 770 a good deal or not? I remember them being on sale last holiday season and really wanting them then, but I didn't have the funds.

Beats = $30 headphones marketed @ $199+. very good marketing. it's like buying a ford fiesta but paying for a GT500 cobra.

Bose= can't compare, 2 very different headphones. Bose is for traveling and noise cancelling. they excell at these. however, sound quality, the bose cannot even come close to the DTs. DTs are much better by a long mile than the bose.

do keep in mind that the DTs require an AMP to drive them properly. they are considered entry level audiophile headphones.

if it comes down between the bose and the beats, i'd go with the Bose. BEATS are THAT BAD. they over-emphisize BASS over anything else.

I have the DT770's extremely comfortable and sound great. As others have mentioned do not expect to drive these without an amp. I knew prior to purchasing these and use them on my PC with a soundblaster zxr and switching between that and my front audio ports are dramatically different. Trying to use these with a tablet or smartphone and you'll be disappointed. Even with an amp (I had a Filo E17) I did not like these on tablets or smartphones. I sold the amp and just use these on my computer now.

I'm talking about the cord that runs into the headphone.

These are great headphones for audio enthusiasts who are willing to shell out $$ on an amp and carry around/wear a large set of cans on their head.

Great price though.
