So I have decided to go cable free and do an antenna and Amazon stream. Since I am roughly 50 miles from New Orleans and 30 miles from Biloxi on the gulf coast.,can anyone recommend a really good HDTV antenna? Sick of paying the cable gods!!!!!

Get an Amazon Fire and then you won't need OTA either, unless you really need live programming such as news.

Put in your address into this site: http://antennaweb.org/, and it will tell you what kind of antenna (multidirectional, directional, etc) you need in order to pick up various channels. Post your results here, and indicate if you want an indoor or outdoor antenna. 50 miles is probably tough for a small indoor antenna to pick up, but 30 might be doable (depending on where the towers are).

I prefer http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?o...&Itemid=29
OP, if you check tv fool you can post a link to your results and we'll be able to offer better advice.

The bigger the antenna and the higher it is, the stronger the signal will be. Attic or roof will yield the best performance, but I'd certainly try the attic before you resort to the roof.

You need an antenna with decent VHF performance for ABC and CBS. CBS could be a little harder, but most of those should be pretty easy to tune in. Try an antenna or two you can get locally to establish a baseline of sorts. Where you're putting the antenna would impact recommendations, eg. next to the tv, in the attic, etc.

The higher you put the antenna the better.

I've got the Leaf 30 and it works great. I'm situated about 10 miles from of the towers, so much closer than your ~40 miles. I'd try the Leaf 50 and see how it works.

Not at all important - I can live without those.

In that case, the leaf mentioned above should work. Just wanted to make sure you didn't need to mount something on your roof.
