Early and unadvertised seasonal special:

Comes with a battery and simple charger, which is a good deal considering the cost of batteries alone.

The Impact driver is the same P234G as sold in the $119 kit here:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-.../203466912

Only comes with a single battery instead of 2, a simple charger, and no case. But the driver is solid and battery holds a charge very nicely. 3 year warranty on the tool and one year on the battery doesn't hurt either.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

You better have very few nuts/screws to drive every day, patience, or another Ryobi charger. This kit comes with the slow/overnight P119 charger rated at 8 hours (YMMV depending on battery capacity and state of charge). I don't have any charging current info, but to show you the difference, the P119 charger is rated at 7W AC input whereas the lime-colored P117 and black P118 "standard" chargers have input ratings of 85W and 50W. The P117 and P118 are rated at around 30 minutes and 1 hour when charging the P102 1.3Ah compact battery (Ryobi expert ToolBoyWorld [toolboyworld.com] estimated 33min and 51min).

This P1870 kit was introduced for and was the same price [toolguyd.com] during 2014 Oct/BF. It was discontinued soon after (at least when I checked in April ... yes, I track Ryobi prices). IIRC, unit was ship only (n/a in store) last year and came in a brown box which you can find by searching eBay if you're curious.

I don't care for that driver. It's not compact - tougher to get in smaller spaces - and doesn't feel heavy-duty. I prefer the compact version that Ryobi sells.

Thinking about abandoning my porter cable lineup and heading to this. Performance of these homeowner grade tools is adequate for the tasks I tackle, but I think ryobi will stick with their lineup longer and batteries seem to be more affordable. My porter cable 18v lion batteries are completely toast after maybe 5 years, and now I'm faced with either buying a $90 replacements or getting crappy nicds for it.

Won't work with the drill bits here.

Will fit the driver bits but I wouldn't recommend using the 1" screwdriver bits with the holder for the driver. You're putting a lot of torque on the holder with a driver...I would only use pieces like the one-piece 2" bits.

The usual sale price for that kit is just under $100... I hate to say wait for Black Friday, but...

I would not recommend using anything from that kit with an impact driver, regardless if it fits into the tool.
