Outersports.com [outersports.com] has a 4-pack Merino Wool Outdoor Trail Socks. Price is $24.95. Use coupon code LOYALTY10 to get $10 off an order of $20 or more.

At $14.95 it comes out to $3.74 per pair. Better than the recent Frontpage deal for merino wool thermal insulated socks.

71% Merino Wool / 21% Nylon / 7% Polyester / 1% Lycra Spandex

I posted a detailed critique of the last deal here and lots of my general comments apply here too.

This looks like a far better choice. These have a seamless toe closure and has a decent nylon content that should make it more durable. These claim to be 'mid-calf' but visually they look more like a crew length, but most people will find that more comfortable anyway.

At this price it's probably a better buy than the costco sock. More nylon should be more durable and it's a pure merino body yarn which should be a bit less stinky than the wool/poly blend that costco are using now.

Of course you can go see the costco one and use their return policy which shifts things a bit more in their favor.

I'm impressed by the amount you know about socks (reading your last detailed critique).

These look like the original Costco socks from years ago.

I'm curious as to whether the socks that Outersports ship look just as pictured, or if they will have darker banding in the mid foot area.

I do factory software for one of the biggest US sock manufacturers. This is just what i've picked up in passing in the last decade - i'm still a relative newb compared to the people who've been on the knitting floor for 40 years Smilie

Ouch. I thought I saw somewhere on their site that they were going to lower their free shipping to orders of $50 or more or do flat rate or something. But not finding it right now.

I just bought the 4 pack from Costco and Nylon is at 29%, 70% Merino Wool, 1% Spandex. The Women's socks had a different fiber content, I believe like 17-18 % percent polyester, 76% wool. Which ones are better in your opinion?

That sounds like a better make up (on the men's sock) that what someone else posted. A pure wool body yarn and enough nylon to make a durable product. I'd question the grade of merino used to hit that price point, but if they aren't itchy on your feet then it's good enough.

Just got these. Disappointed. These are small. Also Kirkland brand so basically Costco is cheaper and better return. They do not seem to keep my feet warm. For some reason, my feet felt warmer with just regular ole white socks.
