SPECULATION,take with a grain of salt and research yourself - If you have Active PFC PSU, it may fry your PSU and other components. These non-smart UPS are notorious for killing modern computers.

That is common among all of the consumer ups models.

First one you've ever seen? Tell me which one doesn't do that please.

Here's another complaint: They don't power my equipment as long as advertised. LMAO

How about this one? The batteries go bad after a couple years of use. EEK!

Does this model make noise while it is sitting idle? Speaking of sitting idle, is there some super fast switch that switches the battery on when power is cut, or do your devices run on the battery, which is being constantly recharged?

In for one in the Chicago area. They charge for delivery so this is definitely a in-store pickup. Also in my area there is very little inventory currently available in the stores. Some have 1 or 2 at the most. I don't know if they will restock.

I had gotten one of these on a deal 5 years ago. Lesser voltage and the same price on sale - worked great for 6 years. Now the battery needs to be replaced. Cost less to get a new one and this is higher voltage.

Outside of the surge protection all I need is to power a monitor (have a laptop with battery) and routers so I can shut down and not lose whatever I'm working on in the event of a power failure. I have 2 of these. They work!!

Thanks OP...

Jim, it's based off the standby topology which means if their is a power disturbance there is a transfer switch that will bring it on to battery. the transfer time is acceptable for most consumer electronics. the reason why the other half is surge is for you non critical stuff like the printer, monitor, lamp..

This is a good deal. This is typically the sale price I have seen for these. There is no reason to pay more. As far as replacing the battery - I still don't own a flashlight that doesn't need a new battery Smilie This is a fair deal.

What one needs to remember is that this is a backup, not a power replacement. If you have a laptop with it's own battery power supply and you have a power failure this backup will power your router/modem so you don't lose internet and can continue to work. I trade for a living and my backup is critical to me. When I have had failures this back up has saved me. It does what it is meant to do. I also have a desktop with one of these backups and 1 monitor on it (out of 4) and when there is a power failure it gives me enough time to properly shut down my software and safely manage my positions - it does the job.
