I bought last time around a few months ago, so far it has been great, the USB external drive serves up movies to Kodi on Win10 HTPC smoothly, Some snags I had to learn about is that if the power is cut, usb ports will appear dead until a full reset is done, if you know you need to cut power go into the control software/web UI(Genie) and properly disconnect the connected USB device b4 you cut power and all will be fine when you reconnect it and any mapped drives on connected devices will work again when you reconnect the usb...(readyshare is what netgear calls it) Also i like that the connected usb drive sleeps to save energy, but i cant seem to get it to wake up on its own(When Kodi Starts) without clicking on the drive icon in windows. Also it claims to be able to add full network printer(for any printer) ability to apple tablets but i have not messed around with this feature yet.

I just jump in the other refurbished router deal yesterday. The DIR-868L should be a much better router though a bit more expensive ($50 yesterday). Note that this one is not AC compatible making it a little bit dated. Also, it said "faster USB" but not USB 3.0 compliance.

Yep, I jumped on the 50 one too, reviews seemed mostly good, wireless speed is faster, and I want a USB port to hook up my two big externals out front so I can retire my WDTV Live media player I no longer use.
The WDTV keeps the USB ports live when it's in standby with the hacked firmware but it also keeps dropping them and I have to restart it to get them back.
Hopefully the 868 will play nice with them and my 4 port USB hub. Anyways maybe my tablet and phone will hookup faster and if not at least I can use the USB port to more reliably share those drives on the network.

I got this refurbished router a few months back. I ignored all the negative reviews about it possibly arriving non working (needing firmware flashed) and it needing to be redone after every power outage. I figured I'm a techy guy, I can figure it out if something comes up.

After some trials and errors, I finally found a quick fix for this router and made this short video to demonstrate my solution. Worked great for me.

Interesting fix... laugh out loud
1 quick question... did flashing it to DD-WRT help at all or did it need a to be reflashed after every power interruption as well?
I have a TP-LINK Archer for my main router and was going to pick this up as a AP or wireless repeater @ $30 its almost same price as n300 range extender. THX

It did work but the process to reflash it every single time just wasn't worth the effort. Spend a little more for a lot less headache.
