Paddington [Blu-ray] (2014) is at its lowest price ever on Amazon for 9.99

Direct Link to the item for $9.99
[amazon.com]

To get it at that price, for some reason it is not defaulting Amazon as the seller, so you need to Click on the Other Sellers link [amazon.com] and choose Amazon as the seller. Prime is available as well as FSSS on orders over $35

The lowest price this has ever been.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I have a question for anyone who has seen this, AND read the original stories (my daughter was read these almost every night from ages 3-5). The father seems a bit more mean-spirited and unpleasant than the dad in the stories, who was more of the stereotypical professionally successful slightly inept domestically but well-meaning father. It may be that marketing types no longer the original has an appeal to an audience who thinks that Ice Age has nothing questionable for young children (hint: meanness with even a whiff of approval bothers me a lot more than many PG-13 qualifiers) but I'm asking just in case that was trailer hype and that maybe the movie is closer to the original stories.

I have read some of the stories with my kids, and seen the movie. I agree the characters are a little different in the movie vs the books, but that is probably because in order to keep the flow of the story in the movie, you needed a bit of conflict. The Father and his disposition early in the movie is central to the development of Paddington as an accepted member of the family for the sake of a 90 min movie. It works well and the movie is highly enjoyable by kids and adults alike. They also had to make the movie accessible to people who have never read the stories, which I thought it was as well.

For $10, it is totally worth adding to your collection.

Repped. I'll try the local library first, as my daughter is as persnickety as her dad about her books turned into movies (she loathes the first Percy Jackson movie, mercifully she saw it at her grandparents so I avoided it). Thanks for the heads up that it may not be as bad as the vibe I got from the preview, but yet noting I wasn't crazy about what I noticed. If you want to try something different, and have Amazon Prime (finally got it with the Firephone deal) try the movie Spring. I caught if for Halloween based on the preview, and it's actually much better. The preview maker was trying to sell it to the horror crowd, and it's actually about relationships too (and <gasp> acting, scripts, and directing - it's more of a Twilight Zone vs. splatter fest tale). What's amazing is that I caught one of the BD special features on it's production, and while I knew it was on a tight budget as you can see where they had to make choices due to that - butI didn't realize just how limited their cash was. Given that it's a simply amazing movie IMHO.

Good price, but pretty soon (less than 3 years). you'll be able to get all media on demand. Collections will be worth nothing, just my two cents.

Yes, of course, for a fee. Either a subscription for a streaming service, which will sometimes have what you want and sometimes not. Or, you can buy the digital media, which will require you to have an internet connection to view it.

So, what about watching in the car? Or when there's no internet?

The death of physical media has been anticipate for some time. Media companies are not stupid. They want to keep getting money for the IP they own. My advice: If you like it enough to watch it more than once, buy it. In the case of this item, I would view the physical media as practically free as you'd pay near $10 for a digital copy of the movie, which you get with this set.

Worst movie ever. SPOILER ALERT................

The end where Paddington was going to be kidnapped and he voluntarily is walking towards the antagonist of the story, NO ONE HELPS HIM! The family was going to let him go without a fight. What kind of teaching moment is that for kids?
