just got a new Tmobile Note 4 on 5.1.1 last week; issue with lag

got my iphone 6 stolen so I decided to give the Note a try. I usually switch between android and iOS like every other year. I had the S3 and S4 before switching to the iPhone 6. I do prefer iOS as it is much smoother imo. But I don't mind android at all. I'm not sure what it is, but my phone currently lags a lot. I don't recall it that bad when I was using my s3 and s4.

In addition, I'm in a group chat with family with like 6-7 of us and they all have iPhone and use imessage to text.. now I can't even get their texts; feels like sometimes I'm missing out on text msg sent from others.

I'm really consider bringing it back..but I kinda wanna keep it just bc I don't wanna go back to iOS too soon since I rather wait for the iPhone 7.

anyone with bad experience with the note 4 or 5.1.1? thanks for reading.

Samsung has kind of screwed up the launch of Lollypop on the Note4. 5.0 was bad, 5.1 is supposed to fix a lot of that. I personally don't like the samsung launcher and replace it with Nova. I then turn animations off in the developer options. I have a verizon phone thats still on 5.0 and it's a bit laggy too.

As far as the text issue thats a known problem http://www.imore.com/text-issues-...-heres-fix

Since you no longer have your iphone I might call apple and see if they can help you out by flipping that switch or something.

Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

Edit: should have reloaded first. Not much new info here.

First of all, if you don't like the phone, return it. You have a limited window to do this, and you don't want to be stuck with a phone you hate for 2 years.

The iMessage issue is a known Apple bug, that they have no interest in fixing properly. When you switch to a non Apple phone, iMessage continues to route other iPhone users text messages to your iMessage account.

You can fix iMessage yourself following these steps: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage.

I'm not sure about the lag. I've always found Samsung phones to be laggier than stock Android, but the note has some serious hardware, so it really shouldn't lag.

What do you mean by lag? It's slow to change screens/etc? Or do you mean just audio lag?

I also have the Note4 and am annoyed by the slowness of changing screens, launching things, etc. Should be quick and responsive with a high end phone, but usually it's about 0.5-2 seconds to respond when I do something like click recent apps.

That lag is the joy that Samsung has inflicted on their last few devices. It gets worse as time goes on sadly. That specific lag in opening applications and simply scrolling around coupled with the freezes drove most of my family to switch to iPhones. You can hope that they fix it, but from what I have seen it was there throughout lollipop and is still there now in marshmallow. I wouldn't expect much from them.

I would return that and pick up a Google device. Either the 6, 6p or 5x would give you Android without the 120+ unkillable apps and bloatware that Samsung saddles you with. Or go back to an iPhone. They just released the 6s if I recall correctly and it will be well into next year before the 7 comes out.

I do want to get a Nexus, but ever since Ive used the iphone 6 plus... I'd have a hard time downgrading size.. plus not sure if TMo has a Nexus on a finance plan.

The same thing Pedantyc mentions..."That specific lag in opening applications and simply scrolling around coupled with the freezes" .sometimes freezing often. And apps in the background causing a lag as told by the Advanced Task Manager app I use.

Thanks for your honest feedback. With me, I like to switch between iOS and Android every year with me having the skip the iphone S phones; this way I feel like I can both enjoy and be frustrated by both iOS & Android until I cound the day for the other.. (not sure if that makes any sense). I mean, I had iOS the past year, so I want to feel the anticipation of the new line of iphone when the 7 arrives.

I have the phone since Nov 3rd, so I really am having a hard time figuring out what I want to do. I dont want to go back to iOS yet although iOS just makes things more easier, so I definitely want to stick with Android for a year before I make the jump back to iOS in a year with the 7. But this Note 4 is really making it difficult. I'll suck it up for a year.
Thanks all for listening to my rant. LMAO

I doubt it is financed on any carrier, but just to let you know the Nexus 6p is possibly the biggest damn phone I have seen. Larger than the note and the iPhone 6+. Starts at $499.

I had one in my cart earlier but stopped myself before buying it. Maybe it will come down a bit for Christmas. I can wait.

I personally would not stay with that Samsung. I have not met anyone that has actually liked it over time. It just gets slower and worse. The G4 is another worthy option to look into.

Oh man, that 6p does look nice !! now you really me thinking..hmm, but not sure I can shell out the full price at this time. The G4 does sound more fitting for my plan since I can finance. I'll look more into it. Thanks very much !!! rep to you !
