480p streaming. Not HD.

Official doc from t-mobile: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs...Email_Tool

What is Binge On(TM)?
Video is the number one way people use wireless data, with Binge On(TM) we are setting video free. No Overages. Ever!

Stream unlimited video FREE on your favorite streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Sling, ESPN, Showtime, Starz and more without ever using your high-speed data. Check out the full list and stay tuned for more on the way. We won't stop. Any new or existing customer with 3GB data plan or larger can stream for free without worrying about your data.
Plus, almost all other video streaming is optimized for mobile so you watch 3 times more video with your data plan.

Binge On Details from T-Mobile [t-mobile.com]

Warning: You will lose you unlimited Data Stash if you don't Opt-Out. If you don't plan to Binge On (stream video) you might be better opting out:
http://datastashoptout.t-mobile.com/#/home

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...ible_with/

As some of you may or may not know, Data Stash has changed to now limit a maximum of 20 GB of data rolled-over for up to 12 months.
Previously, Data Stash would rollover unused data WITHOUT A LIMIT for up to 12 months. Here are some facts I've discovered from my findings regarding this new change:
  • The new Simple Choice Amped plans coming out November 15th, 2015 will have the newer "20 GB Limit" Data Stash.
  • Any Simple Choice plan PRIOR to November 15th, 2015 that included Data Stash will still continue to have the legacy "No-Limit" Data Stash IF YOU OPT-OUT OF THE CHANGE BY DECEMBER 16TH!

IF YOU WISH TO KEEP YOUR LEGACY "NO-LIMIT" DATA STASH, you HAVE to opt-out from the change to the newer "20 GB Limit" Data Stash. To opt-out, you have to do one of the following:
  • (1.) Text "DATAROLL" to 6255 for EACH LINE you wish to keep the legacy "No-Limit" Data Stash on.
  • (2.) Go to this link (http://datastashoptout.t-mobile.com/#/home) and fill out the form according to the instructions.

You'll need to do either one by December 16th, 2015. If you don't do anything and you have a Simple Choice plan prior to November 15th that includes Data Stash, you'll automatically have your legacy "No-Limit" Data Stash converted to the new "20 GB Limit" Data Stash.

This is probably the most important fact of the change:
  • If you opt-out from the change (i.e. continue to keep your legacy "No-Limit" Data Stash), you lose the benefits of unlimited video streaming without counting towards your data.
  • This means you have to decide between keeping your "No-Limit" Data Stash and no unlimited video streaming or switching to the "20 GB Limit" Data Stash and have unlimited video streaming.

T-Force on Twitter stated that you should also be receiving a text message between today, November 11th, and November 16th to also opt-out of the change.
This doesn't seem to be mentioned much so I hope this PSA helps people become aware of the change and the resulting implications because of it.

UPDATE: T-Force on Twitter confirmed you'll still get Binge On benefits on launch even if you haven't decided to opt-out yet.

UPDATE 11/12/15: If you opt-out from the "20 GB Limit" Data Stash on a line/account and then decide to convert to it in the future, you HAVE to then switch to a newer plan that has the "20 GB Limit" Data Stash (e.g. the Simple Choice Amped plans). I just confirmed this fact with T-Force on Twitter. Make sure you want to keep your Legacy "No-Limit" Data Stash for sure before you opt-out.

FYI: "T-Mobile will now charge $45 for unlimited data, up from $30...Nov 15....but current unlimited data plan owners are exempt.. "

T-Mobile Uncarrier X
T-Mobile on Tuesday unveiled its new “Un-carrier X” initiative called “Binge On,” a new plan that will let you stream video over its network without counting against monthly data limits. T-Mobile is starting off with 24 of the most popular video streaming services and it says it’s open to any other video provider that wants to join in. T-Mobile also says that it doesn’t charge any money to video services so smaller players don’t have to worry about getting priced out of the program.

Included among the 24 apps that will be supported at launch are Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, HBO Go and Sling TV. Two noticeable absences from the list are YouTube and Twitch, which are hugely popular in the gaming community. T-Mobile says that it is working to bring YouTube on with the system as well, although it didn’t give any timeframe for when we can expect to see it.

T-Mobile customers who have Simple Choice plans can start streaming these 24 video services uncapped starting Sunday, November 15th.

Here’s the full list of streaming services that will be supported at launch:

Netflix
HBO NOW
HBO GO
Hulu
Sling TV
Sling Box
ESPN
Showtime
Starz
Movieplex
Encore
T-Mobile TV
Vevo
Vessel
Univision Deportes
Major League Baseball
Go90
DirecTV
Fox Sports
Fox Sports GO
NBC Sports
Crackle
VUDU

So you have to be a subscriber to those services, right? The benefit is just no hit to data caps?

yup and you have to have added data, so 3gb and up... base 1gb - now 2gb - doesn't qualify. Everyone does get the optimization and everyone can turn it on or off.

I doubt it but I wonder if they'll allow you to use your phone to tether and watch netflix on your tablet with this 'binge on'. Watching something on the phone is meh.

Ofcourse, you've to be subscriber to those services but other carriers count against data plan. I don't allow my daughter to watch Netflix on phone for this exact reason.

You can use it to tether free

Sounds like they are doing some sort of throttling for these as well?

3rd party subscription charges may apply. Video streams at DVD quality (480p+) with Binge On.
You may disable Binge On at any time, but will lose Binge On benefits.

What's with the weird fonts?
Does the $30 5gb data 100min voice plan also get this?

They said it will but the big thing is that the optimized stream is locked onto 480p at the moment. So you'll be seeing it in 480p on the tablet or whatever you're tethering to.
