Does the Discover IT card ever have any sign-up promotions?

I have AMEX Blue Cash and Chase Freedom Visa cards but I'm thinking about getting a Discover IT card. Seems like this is a very popular card among the crowd here? I use my AMEX for most purchases, and my Chase visa for the rotating 5% categories. Are there ever any sign-up bonuses with this card, or should I just go and apply right now? I'm also curious what people find themselves using the card for. I know it has rotating 5% categories as well, but I seem to see people mentioning 10-15% off on some things through Shop Discover?

yes, I signed up under DH's referrals and I got the bonus. I called to clarify if it'll also double on the 13th month and rep said yes only if I signed up under a referral, which I did Smilie

btw, DiscIT is under fire now for its 10% Apple deal bonus that didn't turn out well for those who bought GCs.

They are running a promotion right now. If you apply and are accepted, all your cash back will be doubled after one year of usage. Also, if you sign up with my referral link (which I don't think I can post here), you and I both get $50. PM if interested. If this is not allowed, I'm sorry Admins, but I'm not sure if it's allowed or not.

This is my go to card for the rotating categories.

If there's a 5% cash back category for a calendar quarter, AND Discover Deals shopping portal gives 10% cash back for shopping through their portal, you would get 15% cash back. I'm in the "double after a year" promotion, so next August I'll get that 15% cash back again, when my one year is up.

I think you only get $50 + double cashback ($100) through referrals.
Otherwise its only double CB, no bonus.

Let me know when you are ready. Wink

What are you talking about?

It's been confirmed months ago that the double cash back is for one year for all cash back generated for new members (or current members if they call Discover), and it includes the $50 referral, if people get referrals.

the $50 is for referral only. If you sign up from their website without any referral, you don't get $50. That's what I was saying.

Ah, finally I understand, sorry I took so long to translate your English into English! For some reason my brain wouldn't make sense of your post. Thanks for helping me. Smilie .

They do offer sign up bonus at times, and sometimes a gift card when signing up via Amazon.
Check around. I got a $100 signup in 2010, and a $150 for the IT card last year..
