Upgrading my router (dd-wrt) to a DIFFERENT build of dd-wrt (Please be sure)

So I have a kong build I believe of dd-wrt, I checked this website and supposedly there's a new beta build. I want to try it out, but I don't want to brick my router, I'm really scared. Can I upgrade this build from my current version of dd-wrt?

Note: I'm not sure if the beta is kong I'd be upgrading to. I'm just assuming.

Here's what I currently have installed:

Here's what I want to upgrade to:

More specifically this. Here's the download:

Generally yes, flashing from one dd-wrt build to another is just a straight forward update through the firmware. Always clear the settings back to factory before doing any major updates, otherwise, as long as the build your flashing to is compatible you shouldn't have any trouble.

I don't know any specifics about your router or these builds though.

Most modern routers also have good options to debrick without soldering. I'd look into that if you're particularly worried.

I agree with what Quotidian says. I would add jump on a forum where that build is being talked about and feedback is given to the author. Probably the best way to get experienced voices with your equipment to go ease your pain.
