Spec wise this looks like a good value if you are after a Skylake. The processor alone is almost $200.

I would of considered this if I hadn't already started acquiring parts for a Christmas build for my son. So far I've ordered case/monitor/ps and have spare HDD & SSD. Still not sure whether to go 5th gen or 6th gen processor, waiting to see what the holiday sales bring out.

This is not made for a gamer. Sure just general desktop computing could be done on a lesser computer also, but this is a very solid general computing machine.

You're going to have to replace that 300W PSU.

If I'm in no rush should I wait for black Friday, or is this a solid deal. I don't seem to see many desktop deals lately.

Any thoughts comparing this Asus deal with this Lenovo [bestbuy.com] in the Best Buy Black Friday ad that will be $330+tax? This deal has a newer processor, but they seem similarly rated on PassMark? Otherwise the specs seem pretty similar, but for $80 less (I pay tax either way).

Someone said the the comments that it would void the warranty if you open the case?

I saw that also. ASUS support responded to this review [amazon.com] saying that they would honor the warranty as long as it's returned in it's original condition. Definitely a little concerning that the documentation doesn't agree with that statement.

So tempted.. I'm seeking a replacement for my old HP i7 920 model from 2009. Loved that computer and tried to get it fixed but isn't worth the cost as some of the parts are fried out. I noticed even the integrated graphics in this one are a decent upgrade over the dedicated 9800gt in my old one. Should I jump or wait to see what black Friday has to offer??
