SMS forwarding service?

ludhianvi 1,592 443 November 15, 2015 at 04:12 PM
Hello friends:

I am curious to know if there are any apps out there or another option that can auto forward a SMS message (India number) to another number (USA number)? Or, if there is a service like google voice in India?

Basically, I want to receive SMS on India number (can be a new number), but access that message in USA either on web or have it automatically forwarded to US number?

Thanks.

Google voice doesn't give India number, already checked into that.

Apple's iMessage is always an option, but you may want to turn off sms fallback. Which could unfortunately prevent you from sending sms to anyone without an iPhone (I don't have an iPhone so I'm not 100% sure how this would work).

There are numerous other messaging apps that would work here's a slideshow type list:

Some of these may have restrictions on what countries they work in.

Thanks jkee. iPhone sms turn off wont work as I need to use sms feature.

Several of the other messaging apps (I didnt check all) dont allow auto-forwarding, and they use the same number as the phone. So, wont the bank message come to message and not through those apps??

To get sms from a bank, you'd have to use sms no other messaging apps would get the job done. getting sms from a bank is going to use a short code message address which can further complicate things.

I'm not aware of any international sms forwarding services. If they exist, the pages about them may not be in english.

Some voip providers can accept sms, but they don't always work with short code numbers. I looked briefly and I didn't find any that would provide you with an international (indian) phone number. Something like this might be your best option, if you can find one.

Thanks for looking. My parents are also checking with their bank to see if something is possible.
