Ordered SL1+18-55mm+75-300mm for $299.99.
Never used the SL1 before. Will be a backup to my 6D.

I also got the SL1+18-55mm+75-300mm for $299.99.

Seems like an incredible deal. This is my first dslr.

Customer reviews for this camera on Best Buy, Amazon, BH, etc. are all great.

This deal seems like a sleeper. I'm surprised it's not picking up more traction.

As noted in a Canon forum from last Monday, Canon is running "Cyber Monday" deals all month.

How does it compare to nikon d3300? I would really like to buy this because of canon's 1 year warranty even for refurbished dslrs. But online reviews say that nikon d3300 is a lot better for image quality and some other features.
They seem to have similar prices/deals. So not able to decide.

Please help.

With canon I'm always hesitant to be one of the early adopters of a deal, most of the time someone will come along and post a coupon code to make the deal sweeter but also by that time the website will become so hammered that I will end up unable to checkout missing the deal completely..... laugh out loud

You might want to glance over this for some comparison of specs at a glance

Like you I was on the fence about the SL1, 3300, or waiting to see if the T5i came down. The D3300's can be had refurbished for about $300 also right now, with one lens. I think it comes down to what you want to use it for, do you need the better image quality the 3300 offers, etc. In part I jumped on the SL1 deal because I've always had canon's and am comfortable with using them and navigating the menus even if its a model I've not used before, plus the extra lens gives me something else to play with, lol. For what I want to use it for, it should be plenty enough camera, and really it should be fine for any average user.

I bought an SL1 during the last triple coupon Halloween sale. If your expectations are right its a fun little camera. It is a Canon crop sensor so I would expect quality to be no better or worse than any Rebel body. I consider it a step above a P&S but flexible in that you can use any Canon EF-S or EF lens. Its small size means I can take it with me nearly anytime without all the 'sometimes' hassle of carting around the much bugger 5D III, flash and multiple lens. The touchscreen and autofocus video are 2 nice features I don't have on the much more expensive 5D III.

Thanks jevoyager for letting me know your thoughts. it was really helpful. I am also on the verge of buying SL1. It will be my first dslr. So guess it would be as good as any other dslr for me.
