A lot of people get so blinded by the straight dollar value of this that they miss one of the biggest pluses of this card and points system: flexibility!

Want to go west coast US to Hawaii? Transfer to British Avios, and it's only 12500 Avios each way. Want to take some continental US flights? Probably Southwest is a good bet. Want to top-up your Marriott account to get that huge Vacation Package deal (7 night stay + airline miles combo)? You're all set. Want to book an amazing vacation to other continents? United, Singapore, Korean all good options. First class Singapore is a great award redemption, and this card can help you get there.

There are many, many ways to get amazing value out of these points if you do just a bit of research into the best ways to use them.
you are going to blow up your budget to get 50k points?

try M$ instead
I love my CSP card.. works great with my Chase Freedom (w/ 5% categories) ... Just got this a few months ago with the 40k offer. You don't realize how many points you can get until you see your monthly statement. Best part about the CSP is you get 2X points on travel, which includes gas or anything bought at gas stations, and 2x points at all restaurants, including fast food.

To add to that, whenever you book flights on Chase's website, you get 20% off the price if you pay in points. It'll say something like, "You have 8000 points, which can be used for $100 worth of travel." An example is if I fly to Japan, I search the chase website and find China airline tickets for $532 (really cheap and it searches several airlines to give you the best price) .. it will say "$523 or 42,560 points" Not a bad deal if you travel a lot and can easily make up for the $95 AF.

And, in addition to transferring points to airline programs, you can transfer UR points between your Freedom and CSP through the website, both ways. You can get paid out in cash, statement credit, or use your points directly on Amazon to buy stuff.

Yes, it's accurate. Redeeming points directly for travel gives you a bonus to the value of the points.

As the other poster said, you must book directly through the Chase travel site in order to get the bonus points value so you won't be booking whatever deal of the moment Southwest is running, but if you just need to book a trip with fixed dates, it's very good. The Chase travel site reflects the same costs you'll get at any other travel website (i.e. it's not more expensive to book through them, thus negating the points benefit).

I just went to Hawaii with the united promotion, SF to Oahu round trip for $338. I used my points to book the tickets instead which came out to 27040 points which if u were to convert to cash, would be $270.40 only. that's a $67.60 cheaper (20% off). so it's real
