Install Windows 7 Pro on thinkpad laptop with new SSD

house kitten 6,899 November 17, 2015 at 01:01 PM
I bought a used laptop in which had be upgraded to windows 10. I want to go back to windows 7 which the computer originally shipped with in 2013. I have installed a new SSD (actually it is in the drive space but I have nothing on it yet). I want to do a clean install but noticed MS had taken down all the iso's that were on the web this summer. How do I now install as OS on my new SSD?

If you have the product key for Win 7, then you can get it from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/s...d/windows7

Thanks but that did not work for me. I am thinking because prior owner upgraded to win 10 so the win 7 code (located under battery) is showing as invalid.

Also the more I read and research that link it is for those who purchased a win 7 license and not an OEM license that ships with a new computer.

Nope. I am entitled to restore my laptop legally.

Downloading from torrent is not illegal.
Using the software with a fake window license is.
As long as you can prove that you purchased it and actually use the legal windows key, it is legal.

Wow, you're a nice guy. I can read and I don't choose to go your route so thanks but no thanks.

I guess I was actually hoping some SDer made an iso of this and would share but now I know it is not the SD way. it is better to insult and belittle.

Hey. Ran across this thread. I have a win 7 pro ISO. PM me if you still need it. I'll see if I can set something up.

Honestly, just use the torrents in those posts. Not sure why getting a copy from an SDer would be any safer than a verified ISO. Use the MD5 to verify it.
