computer/iPad mini for 12 year old?

Deal?Where? 632 64 November 18, 2015 at 08:59 PM
Can the iPad mini "replace" a computer? I'm looking at the 4th gen 64gb mini.
The computers I bought for the 2 years ago are Asus T100ta and are incredibly slow. Daughter does YouTube videos, school papers, and a few small games on steam. The play the CRAP out of minecraft both on Xbox and on computer with tons of mod packs.

So I'm thinking:
Mini-
Pros-ease of use, good camera, excellent for youtubeing, easily portable, tons of apps, and really good games, good resolution, and sad.
Cons-can't write papers, small screen, can't play games on steam.

Computer-
Pros-portable, big screen, versatile and easy to type with keyboard, can do school papers on it, can play games on steam.
Cons-price with ssd and "decent" processor will be more than mini, (maybe more than I can afford-$500?), constant updates, and windows crap, not as easy to use.

I'm thinking computer at this point. But can't seem to find a decent "light-moderate" gaming computer lately. I guess I'll wait for cyber Monday?
Thanks for any input!!!!

You could replace the iPad with a laptop. I actually did that for awhile when my laptop wasn't working. You can get them a charging case with a keyboard and then that can serve as the keyboard for them. So, they don't even have to take their time trying to type on the screen. It works out well, and they could also write some papers on Google Docs and print them out somewhere else.
