wifey and i just looking for a 40-43" tv below 450. just tv and netflix/vudu etc.. we don't even blue ray yet but plan on it.

Is this a decent deal? model number doesn't bring up much which makes me think it's a derivative model. i don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing though.

At this price. I don't see how you can go wrong with a Samsung even if it is refurbished. If it is refurbished maybe add an extended warranty for $10.00 or so.

I would say go for it and don't look back!

thanks guys. the model number is a 1 instead of 3 at the end of the one in that amazon link someone posted. it is new as well. went ahead and snagged one. I'll let you know how it is. dropped 29.99 on a 3 year extended squaretrade warranty to add to the 2 year costco gives for a total of 5. the other Samsung we had has lasted almost 8 years with no problems so im sold on Samsung.

Costco gets their own model number but they are the same. The reviews are good.

That's why the extended Warranty would come in nice. Smilie

There's a newer model on sale at Target for around the same price. http://m.target.com/p/samsung-40-...A-16390220

Looks like the biggest complaint for the 2014 models seems to be the laggy apps, which some are saying resolved after a firmware update. Target has a special today where you can get the 2015 equivalent model for the same price.

Thanks. Strange that the newer one has worse reviews though. I purchased and set up the TV without hitch. Great picture quality. Apps seem to be doing just fine for me. We are coming from a Roku (the first version) so it's already a little more speedy. It also has the PLEX app which is nice. No showtime though Frown. So far the only thing I've run into that I don't like is some videos in the youtube app specifically start to buffer and say "loading" and never recover.

I'm on 100mbps internet with Suddenlink fiber. None of my other devices do this (phones, tablets, computers, etc...) It only seems to do it in the youtube app. I can pull up the same video on my pc at the same time with no loading or buffer issue.

Not sure what to think there. It's not my network though. I got 90 days to take this thing back. Went with Samsung because of our prior experience. A buddy of mine tells me I should try Vizio which is a leader now.
