New to furniture: Queen Bedroom Furniture Set

paintballer301 264 190 November 22, 2015 at 09:29 AM More Amazon Deals
Hello there!

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am in the market for a new bedroom set, I am a 23 year old male.

Looking for something nice but cheap.. Queen size.

I currently found this:

Black headboard [amazon.com]- $ 70
Black Dresser [amazon.com] - $130
Black night stand [amazon.com] - $50

Total = $268 after tax (minus) 10% chase amazon cashback = $240 w/ free shipping.

All I need is a headboard, chest of draws & a nightstand.

I already have a metal frame for the bed, and then im putting a TV on my chest of draws so don't need a mirror - unless I want to hang one on the wall?

This is my first time purchasing furniture so I am new to all of this. I went onto wayfair and their prices are unfortunately out of my budget (all of them ~$1,000!) so $240 for what I need sounds pretty good. I am a 23 year old guy so i dont need top notch quality.

Any thoughts / opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.. I was also thinking blackfriday is right around the corner.. should I wait to see if the prices go down? OR... does BF not have furniture deals?

Thank you again and any help is super apprecaited!!!

Have a wonderful day. Smilie

I'm concerned about the quality lasting any length of time. If you are going to be opening the drawers a couple times every day I wouldn't expect it last more than 18 months. These materials tend to chip easily. If you are gentle with the pieces it may hold up for a few years. You'd have to be careful with anything hot or liquid, especially cold drinks, which will likely leave a mark or cause the material to swell. I, personally, prefer to shop on FB yard sale sites, traditional yard sales, and Craigslist for used furniture. But, it does take time and a little knowledge to make sure you are getting what you think. You also have to be willing to offer less than asking price and negotiate a little. I look for brand names such as Thomasville, Broyhill, Ethan Allen, Pennsylvania House, Stanley, and Bassett. I also look for maple, oak, cherry, and mahogany pieces with dove-tailed drawers in good, used condition. Also, I do not recommend buying a mattress used and recommend you try to get a feel for the the cleanliness of the owners' home.

Hope that helps.
