how does this (other than price) compare to the i3 and Xeon deals that popup fairly often here?

i'm thinking about putting together a home media server. i currently have an i7 920 pulling multiple duties (HTPC/Kodi/Steam/media server)

IIRC the Lenovo ThinkServers do not support sleep/standby mode.

Anybody know for certain, does the Dell PowerEdge T20 support it ?

Here a Lenovo support person claims it doesn't:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Thin...5384#M1501

but I found references to the T20 BIOS where S3/S4 settings are apparently available

Want to eventually build a FreeNAS box for which I'd prefer a standby mode since it mostly only will be used evenings and weekends

thanks for any help

How many drives can this hold for those who have it? I've seen various numbers but it looks like it only has two sleds installed.

I have 6 drives in mine.....4 3.5" and 2 2.5 inch. I installed the 2 port sata card. Mine is the Pentium version running as a file server.

Does it only have two sleds though in the 3.5 bay? Or did you stick some in the 5.25?

how does this compare to the ts140 deal? i don't care about the 1tb or 500gb hard drive. neither will end up in mine. it seems like the ts140 has more on board sata (5 compared to 4). both have proprietary PSUs. i think ts140 may have proprietary onboard usb 3.0 connector as well. ive heard the t20 is not as quiet as the ts140 though. which is higher quality?
