Should I get the Nintendo 3DS XL?

I haven't had a Nintendo handheld device since the GameBoy Advance (I know, I know that was a really long time ago). I'm looking to get another Nintendo device but I'm not sure which one to get.

I don't care much for the 3D option (in fact it gives me motion sickness), but I would like to be able to play Super Smash Bros., New Super Mario Bros., Yoshi's Island DS, and a few of the Lego games. I like that you can close the 3DS (it protects the screen and takes up less space). I'm going to defer to those of you who have owned some of the other Nintendo DS models (the 2DS, DSi DS Lite, and others) as to which the best choice would be to play games like those listed above. New or used doesn't matter much, but I would prefer New slightly more than Used. If there will be any deals that I should be aware of in the next few days, please list them.

Thanks for the help.

new 3ds xl is the best. once you go xl the regular screen won't cut it. also new has built in amiibo support as well as a second analog stick albeit small and almost not as useful. i recommended for 3ds are fire emblem awakening and bravely default

Go for it! Just be sure to distinguish between the NEW 3ds xl and the 3ds xl. The new 3ds xl has a few more upgrades like amiibo support for smash bros and msrp is around 220 iirc. If you don't really care about that iirc Walmart had a good deal with the normal 3ds xl in red bundled with Super Mario 3d land which is an awesome game in itself. Most deals for the new 3ds is around 30 to 40 off of msrp. I recommend both xl systems over the originals, but they are a little more fragile in build but the screen is worth it.

I would get a wii u over a 3ds XL. I can't stand the potato graphics of the 3ds because it uses such a horrible screen to provide 3d.

If you really intend to use its portability, and the games interest you, by all means. I like the hardware of the PS Vita more, but the 3DS has a better library of games, and games are what matter most.

You can get a lot of quality gameplay out of the 3DS XL. I have been firing mine up more and more as of late, since my son is starting to take over the PC.

No one cares that you saved an extra nickel on this same deal back in 2007. If it doesn't apply to the current deal, please keep it to yourself. Tumbleweed

I think my overall favorite is still the DS Lite, but the XL is definitely preferable to the original 3DS (I have both, but not the new 3DS XL).

Agreed. As a 3DS/3DS XL owner you will def want the XL. Can't speak for the new XL. Plenty of good games, too.
