Product warranty start dates

When you purchase warranty on your product, in this case I bought a modem for my parents, any additional warranty you purchase should start on the day the owner actually receives the product. Why did BB start warranty on day I purchased it?

How would BB know that you bought the item for your parents? The day that you purchased is the transaction date.

BB doesn't give you warranty, the manufacturers do. And it is common knowledge that everything starts the day you buy it.

An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

what if it takes them a month to ship it because it's out-of-stock?

they don't charge until it ships the issue usually only comes up on items with a 7-14 day return policy and slow shipping you get the item and the next day the return policy is over.

Is there a problem with the modem you could always record the activation date and argue that the warranty should cover a DOA when it was first turned on, but if it is difference of when it ends vs a month more then you are just talking hypothetical.
