Keyboard is NOT backlit.

Anandtech's insightful Primer [anandtech.com] on Core M performance - incidentally it says that ASUS Zenbook with Metal chassis has good cooling. I would assume that should translate to good sustained turbo speeds - kapeed1

The M is more powerful than an I5-U in many cases

Great input, guess I'll wait for $199.

I wish these had a backlit keyboard. I almost jumped on this, but no backlit keyboard is a deal killer for me.

Some of you are missing that this ends in CA not FA and is the skylake version. Just bought it last week with the education discount for $629. Thanks to OP I'm going to use price protection to get the new low price. Expect it to be $699 again soon.

Not sure why the down votes. Last time I saw the FA model for the same price from the Microsoft Store it was a front page deal. The M3-6Y30 is supposed to be a pretty good step up from the M-5Y10.

i actually bought the ux305la and am considering canceling for this laptop... i was waiting for bf to buy a 1k or lower light decently fast laptop, their were no deals on bf so i decided to just buy the 305la. ive been reading reviews, one thing i worry about is this is a fairly new laptop and its fanless, i dont want my laptop to over heat. any thoughts why i shouldnt get the 305ca?

can you give examples of the same generation i5 vs M where i5 is mostly weaker than M?
