In the market to setup an economy desktop for my 7 year old. Been looking for a deal on a cheap monitor, but all the monitors I see in sub$100s with decent reviews have no HDMI.

Hoping to snag a deal by/on Cyber Monday.

Got this 20" for $59.99 - linky

Has decent reviews (some dead pixel, missing cables and fixed arm concerns), but with speakers thrown in, especially for 60$, isn't that bad. Also tired of being on a look out - well mostly that. Wink

Why'd you go with that over the 21.5 inch Acer on Amazon for $70? The HDMI, speakers?

Just curious, as I'm considering the few options that are in that price range (this, the Dell from Adorama, and the Acer).

The Dell's only VGA, so might as well forget it.

I was honestly gonna jump on this, but some of those reviews shied me away, yeah.

The amazon 70$ display has no HDMI input, hence dropped. I don't recall why I dropped the other ones (very likely for HDMI or maybe price-point).

The speakers included with the Spectre also saved ~10$ that I would have to spend to buy them separately. Also, backlight may be a good feature for my kid, who will likely not bother to get up and turn on the light when the room gets dark.

Don't forget that if you do go with the Spectre, you MAY have buy HDMI and speaker cables separately - that wasnt an issue for me as I've extra cables at home. Power cable, likely a short one is included (and so is a VGA one). A couple of dead pixels or inability to mount are no deal breakers for my kids use.

I'll however watch out for the hum/buzz mentioned in one of the reviews as that may indicate other issues. Ordered through Shoprunner, so in case of this issue (or any other) will RMA it back to newegg. Smilie

Yes, me too, but you can get a DVI to HDMI cable on Amazon for about $6.

Also, just found this ASUS with 2xHDMI which is $100 after rebate:

Does someone think I can wait 2-3 weeks and get a 1080p IPS panel for relatively the same price? Under $120?

If not, my friend's build is going to bite on this.
