this would be more than plenty. grab a 120gb or 250gb SSD deal for less than $75 bucks and she'd be set...

Lenovo Ideacentre Stick 300 Signature Edition PC [microsoftstore.com] $70

Processor
Intel Atom Z3735F 1.33 GHz with Intel Burst Technology up to 1.83 GHz

Memory
2GB DDR3L 1333 MHz

Hard drive size
32GB eMMC

Operating system
Windows 10 Home, 32-bit

You barely need 8GB if you're a serious power user or gamer. I have an i7-3770 and GTX 770 with 32GB ram, I almost never exceed 6GB. For typical Office, browsing, casual games 2GB is more than enough.

Is she going to be running virtual machines or 200 tabs? Save the money and buy the nicest everything else you can find.

An atom processor while pretty impressive in that small design is really a little too far in the other direction. I'd go for at the lowest a 4th gen i3 or a newer AMD A-series just to have some decent performance/futureproofing.

Plenty of deals currently on i3-4170/i3-4160.

Edit:This is a pretty cool small form factor with decent processor but bad in terms of performance to price ratio but great in performance to energy efficiency and mobility: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion...B013P0ISZU

I think some websites (I'm looking at you amazon) are still holding back on best deals so maybe wait till later tonight or tomorrow.

I need to get a inexpensive desktop for media use as well I'm kind of looking into one of those Lenovo H50's or Acers with i3-4170/4160.
