best way/deal to switch from AT&T Wireless to Cricket Wireless?

angel719 25 28 November 30, 2015 at 10:16 PM More AT&T Wireless Deals
Hello!

I currently have 5 lines with AT&T Wireless, but the plan is getting ridiculously expensive for what I am getting. I posted another thread in a different forum and I believe I may be able to get at least 1 HTC Desire 626 or Microsoft Lumia 640 XL at the cost of their cheapest data plan.

I know many SDers have been switching over to Cricket Wireless since they are using the AT&T network so I am wondering... what is the best method to go about this?

I will most likely also need to purchase 5 smartphones upon moving to Cricket since I currently have no smartphones. Yes, I know it is time for an upgrade. My parents on my plan are not tech saavy so we were able to delay the inevitable until now. My sister is definitely looking forward to the upgrade. Stick Out Tongue

I was hoping to do the Cricket Wireless Cyber Monday Moto G LTE 0.99 smartphone since many SDers recommend that, but it is currently out of stock and I am not sure when they will restock (if ever).

Are there any other phones you recommend? Should I find the best deal for Cricket SIM cards while I am at it since I eventually plan to switch over to Cricket anyways? Has anybody been able to pay less than 10 bucks for the SIM card? Is it better to switch over to Cricket in store or online? Any preference for either method? What is the best deal so far considering the circumstances?

Sorry for the lengthy post and many questions. I have been out of the loop for some time and have only been able to get snippets from reading random smartphone posts. This process has been so confusing to say the least. Confused OMG vomit

Any help (especially step by step) would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you fellow SDers for all your patience! heartworshipheart

Some of these questions are addressed in the cricket Better Than Black Friday thread. In order to get the $100 service credit you'd have to port to a non at&t based service for an hour, then port to cricket. Order the 5 lines separately on the site, then combine the lines after the phones arrive.

See the thread mentioned above for details.

There's no need to buy a sim when you can get a phone for 99 cents. If you need a nano sim, the micro can be cut.

I will PM you the instructions, but yes, a quick port to T-Mobile and then back to Cricket will be the way

Why are you PM'ing instructions instead of posting them so others seeing this can read them? [shrug]

Because I've found everyone has a slightly different situation and people seem to reply to my PM with follow on questions. It can get confusing when you post specifics for one person that don't quite apply to another and then others come along and try to interpret....
