Does any cable ISP still allow you to use your own modem? Around here, Charter is the only cable ISP and they require you to rent the modem from them.

Mine does. This is an approved modem too, but I have no use for that other box.

Comcast has found yet another way to annoy me. We have the Triple Play and there is only one freakin' option to buy retail since I need the telephony-type modem and don't want a gateway combo modem/router.

For a mere $150 I can buy the 4+ year old Arris TM722G - not even the 3+ year old TM822GG is cleared for retail purchase. And to buy the same gateway modem I have now it would cost $200.

I use this same modem with Time Warner, no issues. I also have the C5 Archer which has been an outstanding wireless router. Strong signal all over my house (which admittedly isn't all that big) and has never dropped.

Whats the verdict? Will it work on comcast since I see it on their EOL list. or was the list modified to remove SB6141?

for the record, charter does not require you to use their modem, you may use your own, they simply will not discount the rental cost they already built into your sub. it will be interesting to see how things change a year or two from now after twcable and charter merge, since twcable charges extra modem rental, thus using your own can save you money on your sub.

can someone explain to me if I can use this with my Fios internet? I have an Actiontec wireless router MI424WR-GEN3I provided by Frontier, and a 25/25 Mbps connection, but I've experienced some lag issues with Chromecast and Fire Stick streaming and connection issues with my Kindle Fire, and I'm trying to resolve it without dealing with the Frontier tech support (who is useless). will this help? how do I set it up with my Actiontec? Is the cable modem even useful for my situation?
