Real fans will buy the Blu-rays. But $150 seems about $50 too high for this X Files box set, so it is not that slick a deal..

Funny how people think $150 is too much for hundreds of hours of entertainment meanwhile they'll blow $40-50 at one theater visit or go out and blow $100 at the bars.

In any case I really didn't think they were gonna release these to bluray as they gave no advance notice they were going to do so, so I already torrented them all. They were some 50-60 GB per season. The time it took to do all that, extract it, rename every file, amounted to hours upon hours of work... in the end simply paying the $150 would have been a wise choice from a time management perspective, had I known ahead of time or gotten some warning they were going to release them on bluray.

Disclosure: I bought all 7 seasons of TNG on bluray.

I would not be prompting the fact that you just STOLE 150$ worth of merchandise from FOX and its affiliates..but thats me.

In for a set, I need someone to "define the scientific nature of the whammy" for me bounce

Truth...and if one is the type that doesn't want to ever actually find it, I suggest turning on msnbc/cnn/(enter puppet news agency of choice) Big Grin

Wow didn't know it was out already.

Yeah $150 is a bit much for me to drop on this but when it gets down to the $60-$75 range the truth will be here.

How much did you pay in total?

There is a new deal for $93 for the complete STTNG series.

lol maybe it's just me but $150 for less than 20 bucks a season and a ton of hard work put into it (fully remastered to 1080p - clear as day now) and a bunch of special features. But if you're not a real fan or even half a fan, sure you wouldn't want it.

On the other hand, the show is old. Most have it on DVD. Also available for some online subscription services. I bet for many who will buy it, it will collect dust on the shelf.

Rewatching an old series doesn't have the same utility for me as seeing a new movie in a theater. I've seen most if not all of the old X-Files. Owning the Blu-Ray might give me something to do on a rainy day, but I'm not blitzing through a hundred hours of that content when I buy it. It's not worth $150 to me.

Your argument basically amounts to you thinking that any good tv show that you liked should cost a ton, because it's quantitatively more content than a $12 movie. So the $20 deals on That 70s Show or Married with Children is way underpriced. But clearly that's not the case, the price came down to what the market will bear.
