Policy reconsideration in re leaving rep for older posts?

I totally get it, but has there ever been any discussion on changing the policy?

For example, I've done searches before... not for deals, but for information... and come across incredibly eloquent, helpful, in-depth (step-by-step) answers about xyz technology or program, that I wanted to give rep in order to say 'Thank you'. Smilie

Not an actual example I'm thinking of, but just hypothetically: an excellent explanation of how Amazon S&S, or Amazon Pantry, or some kind of Visa or Discover promotion or rewards program actually works.

Sometimes, the page on a company's website is incomplete (doesn't give enough info, and/or assumes you already know things you don't) or is misleading (makes their deal or program sound much better than it actually is).

So hearing 'the straight dope' directly from another SDer is often invaluable.

SD stores these info for more than 30days, no reason why it shouldn't receive reps for them.

You can always see if that member has any recent posts and thank them (rep) that way. I know that's how many members do it now if the OP is old and unreppable.
