Decent Out of the Box Gaming PC

LeroyJenkins16 33 14 December 2, 2015 at 08:25 AM
Hello Everyone,

First thank you for taking the time to help me out here. I am currently looking at getting the following:

ASUS ROG G20AJ US009S - Core i7 4790 - 8 GB - 1 TB [cdwg.com]

I have not been a PC Gamer in a very long time so I know some things have changed drastically. Is this a decent PC to start playing some games on?

I am not a hardcore gamer and would most likely be playing 3-6 hours per week on games and other times using it for normal business activities.

Do any of you know of a better gaming PC that is under 1k? If possible through a company that offers payment plans.

Thanks so much in advance!

Why not build a PC if you don't mind me asking? It's extremely easy and doesn't take too much time. You could build a monster for $1000.

To Be honest the last time I built my own was back in 2007 when I was stationed in Korea, (Real easy to locate parts)

I do not know where to begin any more.

Here are the Specs I am looking for at least:

At least 1080P (4K better Smilie)
16-32GB RAMM
HDD I got covered (3 1TB and a couple 1.5)
5.1 Surround (7.1 would be nice)
Wifi is a must
Processor I would like a quad (8 core would be perfect) With overclocking

Any suggestions? Sorry to dump that on you but this is the first post to this forum Smilie

Crap, MAX BUDGET 1k - 1.1 MAX

Ideally would like to spend 700-900 but not sure if that is possible

You can trim the PSU down a bit (but I chose that for the sake of reputation in customer service from Seasonic) - $20 or so. You can get rid of the optical if you have one or don't need it - $20. The RAM could realistically be trimmed down to 8GB -$20. The case could be trimmed down to a non-window case for about -$30. You could realistically cut off about $100 from this price if you want to by doing those changes. Really up to you though.

Thanks for the build! Taking a look at it now. A quick glance I might just be able to reuse some of my older parts like the case/ power supply, and RAMM if it is the same kind.

Thank you again for the help!

Case is fine. I would not recommend using a PSU that old and the RAM is most likely DDR2 if you built it that far back.
