Bluetooth = wireless but so does the cheaper 2.4Ghz wireless headphones.

A good quality pair of Bluetooth headphones will give an amazing range up to 30 feet however quality is the key word here. I personally believe that the 2.4Ghz types have been nerfed because I have never found a pair that will even work well at 12 feet range.

Before you buy anything, read the reviews for the model you are considering. From my experience I would recommend "over the ear" headphones & I would also recommend avoiding the "Beats" brand they are just too expensive.

Agree on avoiding beats. I would go Bluetooth most likely it will probably work with his devices out of the box without any adapters.

OP What is your budget and what devices does your son have?

Thanks for responding..I know for sure no Beats way overpriced. He has an iphone and xbox one. He enjoys listening to music. I don't want a crazy expensive pair. I just bought the audio techinica mx50 for myself but they are wired. Would like to get something reasonable and decent.

I'm sure there's an FCC limitation for transmit power on those things.

OP, the only devices I've seen that were wireless and not bluetooth are not really geared towards the current consumer market (products never released in the US excluded). Pretty sure that everything you buy nowadays is going to be bluetooth.

I've had really really good luck with the Chinese no-brand earbuds that have popped up on SD in the last few months from Amazon; the ones with good user reviews under like $25. I've bought 2 different ones on sale for under $10 and both are pretty good for the price.

One think to watch out for - you want to get a pair that uses Bluetooth LE (4.0), as long as your son's device supports it. Uses WAY less battery than older Bluetooth standards.

Like others said, depends on your budget and intended use.

I have the m50x myself, but like you said - corded. However, when I'm not using those, I like my urlhasbeenblocked Auditions. They're on amazon, bluetooth but can still be used with cord when battery runs out, or if you just prefer it). Not bad, but bluetooth sound isn't going to come close to the m50x's.

Good luck!
