To Jumblies, this light does actually have a strobe. It's just not documented. When light is on, you double half click, and you get strobe. Half click to stop.
This is really a quality light. I have bought 2, and have been waiting for this deal to come back around to buy another for a gift.
Thanks daiseybeetle

this looks like a great deal. size and layout reminiscent of the cheap chinese knockoffs, but seems to have better internals/electronics with more modes.

Folks, for a lot of these cheaper lights (which have cheaper drivers), it is imperative to use a quality/powerful battery. older, less well made batteries typically have higher internal resistance which can affect current output (which is what the PWM driver on these LED lights require).

Some of the negative reviews on amazon may be due to using smaller flat topped batteries. Remember there are varying lengths depending if the battery was meant for ultrasonic welded 'packs', button topped, or even a protected battery (even longer as it has a pcb inline with the battery).

bought one since $13 is a cheap price for a light with these features.

I have this light and I love it! I also purchased the VG10 and I use it for work when I'm working in a telephone/data closet that doesn't have good lighting. The Thorfire battery that came with the VG10 package I ordered is protected, charges well and lasts about as long as my (2) Simon 3400mAh batteries that I purchased and they cost me $35. The Thorfire battery is actually a Samsung ICR18650 30B. The Thorefire battery is on sale at Amazon for $9.99 at the link below:

The charger that I recommend is the NITECORE i4 Intellicharger 2014 version. It's also available on Amazon at the link below:

I just purchased another C8 with the battery and with my Amazon $5 gift card I got from Bing, $17.99 for the light and battery! Thanks OP, needed an extra one of these to keep in my truck.

Thanks for the info. I have 3 convoy C8s that I use as bike headlights. Usually one on constant med for illumination and the other on strobe. The Convoys came recommended here and I haven't found anything I don't like. I consider them a tremendous value.

Do you consider the quality of the Thorfire on par with Convoy?

It's funny you should ask that. I was concidering buying the Convoy, but couldn't find one here in the States for a good price, so I can't compare. Here is link to another a review. http://www.budgetlightforum.com/node/40719
By the photos in that review, they look practically identical.

If this is anything like the C8 XM-L2 U3 I got from the Tmart TangsFire deal early last year, it's a great flashlight and is light I take with me everywhere. I'll be ordering one of these to add to the collection.

Give this one a shot to test against my SureFire 6p. Anyone used this with 2 123a's that it says it's compatible with?

Been waiting for this. I needed a second one to use with all of my 18650 batteries that I extracted from vacuum that I returned, and filled the battery pack with rocks, so that Costco wouldn't know.
The battery was dead anyways from the ghecko, and the vacuum was a waste of time...Until, I got something out of it. To my luck, the 9/10 batteries hold a charge!
Now I need more flashlights!
