Don't believe the hype. It will still be here in 2017 and beyond maybe at a smaller size though, no longer an anchor store.

Shop Your Way.

I remember needing to buy a new lawnmower from Sears and I had like $20-$40 in the program.

The guy rung me up with a terminal out of the 80s, amber screen, etc.
Told me he had no way of checking my points.
He didn't call a manager, didn't lift a finger to check the internet, didn't offer any other resolution except "come back later"
I never trusted their rewards system again, the same one the article said they banked their company with.

Still sad news, I want nothing more then Sears, K-Mart, and Radio Shack to live forever. Those are stores that I rarely go to but when I need something specific, they are perfect (Briggs and Stratton mowers, home alarm system battery, etc)

But when you walk in to the electronics and see old stock at full price, you kind of have to read the writing on the wall.

I bet it keeps the stock holders awake at night that Sears had a chance to buy Amazon back in the day.
Probably for the better, they would have messed it up anyway.

Hard to take the opinions expressed in a short click-bait article completely seriously.

Haven't they been dying for the last decade or so?

I'm surprised they are not dead already. They are like friggen Radio Shack and stuck in the 80s.

They have nothing unique. They don't price match ANYBODY. You can't do a return without giving them all your Information. the shopping experience is horrible. .

sywr is why we spend thousands every year at the store, 20-40% cashback on everthing. Other programs are not even worth mentioning in comparison.

Yahoo, the company selling itself, embeds Business Insider's copy of a Reuters story. I thought Kmart bought Sears, not the other way around.

As long as they keep sending me surprise points, I'll keep using them. They still have a ways to go to match Amazon, but I'm slowly figuring out their website.

not sure I agree...not that I am a regular shopper there
But..to get all they have under one retail roof...where can you go?

they have appliances, clothing, tools etc etc
They have a price match policy...not sure what you mean there
I am not sure that the shopping experience is any better or worse than Walmart

I have no idea about what you mean on returns...I guess I have never returned anything there

what I have gotten is some fire sale store specific deals there..on TV's and lawn equipment

Cashiers still act amazed if they see me having more than $20 in points to spend. One nearly fainted last month when she saw I had $110. Seems everybody around me just pays out of pocket.
