i'm sorta glad they sold out before launch. gave me the chance to actually consider the purchase and see other reviews/reactions. I love the game, but the pip-boy is just disappointing. :/

of course, even knowing that, i'm still tempted...

I kinda feel the same way, but am still happy I got one. It's still a really cool toy/collector's item. I even went in knowing it was really like an extra $100 because I probably would've waited to get FO4 until it hit $20 or so too.

I've tried getting a Fallout 3 or New Vegas collector's edition but prices on them are pretty high at this point.

Yep most smart people figured out it was a piece of plastic, so all the flippers are feeling really sad who held on to them.

I can't believe how insanely cheap-looking that pip boy is. These will probably be super scarce and worth a fortune in 5 years since most of them will be broken.

SO glad I passed on this. I'll be content with the bobble heads.

So what you're SAYING is that, since I've got a kid that'll be college-age in about 5 years, this could be a worthwhile investment...

As long as you keep it in an air-tight bubble and NEVER touch or move it, yeah - you're golden.

classic BAIT and SWITCH technique. I feel bad for all the people that paid lots of money knowing that these were really "limited" in stock. Oh PLEASE.

Does anyone know for sure if they actually did another production run of these? Or maybe these are just surplus/returns/etc.

I do remember reading an interview where the guy specifically said their factory literally could not make any more even though they wanted to get more made. That was shortly after they sold out preorders. I guess its possible he was referring to them being ready for launch though.

Looks like Amazon is the only place that has these still. If they come back in stock at say Best Buy or walmart we'll know they started making more.
