panasonic cordless w/answer - bad antenna

we use gv and have a panasonic cordless with answer to grab vm. the problem with this phone is that if you go more then about 10-20 feet away from the base the person on the other end says we are fading out. so im wondering if i can open it up and see whats going on with the antenna, maybe even add an external pig tail for a better antenna. this phone came with 3 handsets and all 3 fade.

No harm in opening it up, but it may not be easy to fix. There might not be anything wrong with it, it might just be interference. If you crack it open, post some pictures if you want advice.

If the phones are old 2.4 or 5.8 GHZ, I'd probably upgrade to a new DECT set. Some of the new ones can pair with a cell phone via bluetooth.
