Yes, this is.
I'm pretty sure you don't have a single 8GB stick currently installed, most likely you have two of 4GB sticks. So to upgrade RAM to 16GB you need two 8GB sticks. Check with this: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cp....74-en.exe

How much do you have now and how much are you looking to add? Where are you looking for the improvements? Just making sure ram will actually help.

As far as installing the ram, there are lots of great youtube videos on how to. On a desktop it should be very straight forward.
