Eye exam cost\discounts

Since my new health Insurance does not cover vision\eye care, does anyone know of discounts\insurance you can get for eye exams that is worth anything? I figure I can get the glasses from zennioptical, but the exams themselves can be pricey.

Walmart eye exams. Check multiple Walmarts. I've seen most charge different prices for eye exams. Then buy glasses on line about $10 per pair.

Thanks. My progressive\transition lenses unfortunately still end up costing 150-200 a pair even on Zennioptical, but that is more or less equivalent to what my eye doctor charged with my VSP insurance.

As to the exam, I am not really comfortable trusting Walmart employees with my eye care. At least in my area, they seem to be some of the most clueless lot you would ever want to meet.

Yeah. To me, eye care is something you really do not want to go with the cheapest option on. Ideally I would go to my local optometrist for the exam. He charges $170 though so that is not happening unless I can find a discount program\coupon. Otherwise, I have to shop around and see what\who I can find. The people who work at Walmart are so clueless in my area I just can not see going there.
