prepaid moto e to postpaid

I got my girlfriend the moto e when it was on sale on black friday. I sent her the email about how to get it onto postpaid, but she didn't read it. When the phone came, she opened it and turned it on. She asked me about activating it and I told her she wasn't to have even turned it on... She has yet to activate as a prepaid, but she did turn it on. My question is: can we simply insert an active SIM card in there and have it work on post paid? Or did we screw it up by turning it on and accessing the Wifi? I have little knowledge on this topic so any help would be much appreciated!

I'll assume you're talking about the verizon moto e and verizon post paid service.

You should be fine. If you're coming from a 4G LTE device, swapping the sim should be all you need to do.

she is coming from an iPhone 4.. so a 3g phone where there is no sim card. I have my dad's old sim from his droid maxx. will that work if we call to have the phone number transferred to that sim?

I'm not sure, you might find the answer over at howardforums. You could always try just going into a verizon store, they'll probably give you a new sim for free if necessary. In theory, they should be happy you're paying more than the prepaid rate...
