I posted this yesterday but Adorama site had major issues and bad links so I am reposting it now with hopefully corrected issues

This seems to be a pretty good trade in offer and they have some nice prices on laptops after trade-in.

main page [tradeupwithadorama.com] - click on + to expand categories

qualifying rules [tradeupwithadorama.com] - basically laptop has to be made within last 6 years and work, and not have screen cracks or other major dents.

prices are after trade-inthey also have very limited surface trade in options

These 3 qualify for trade-in]

FAQ:

Q: What laptop brands are accepted for trade-ins?
A: You can trade in any brand laptop.
Q: How do you determine the value of a trade-in?
A: The amount is determined differently for each model, and is based on your new purchase before trade-in. More information can be found HERE (http://www.adorama.com/pages/dell-tradeup ).

Q: How do mail-in laptop tradeswork?
A: After receiving your new laptop, send us your trade-in laptop and power cord using a prepaid shipping label. You can download the shipping label HERE (https://tradeupwithadorama.com/us...adein/home ). If you find out that you didn’t qualify, you can return your new laptop for up to 45 days, as long as it’s unopened.

Q: If my trade-in is rejected, will I be responsible for the full-price of the laptop?
A: We will take returns for 45days on your new laptop if they have not been opened. Please file your claim first to see if you qualify before opening your PC.

Q: Is the eligibility for trade-ins based on the date of purchase or the date of manufacture?
A: Trade-ins are based on the serial number and the date of manufacture, not the date of purchase.

Q: Do netbooks qualify for trade-ins?
A: Yes, netbooks at least 11.3”qualify for trade-ins.

Q: Am I responsible for shipping charges?
A: No, Adorama will pay the cost to ship your old laptop, and we will ship your new laptop for free.

Q: Will I be able to trade-in more than one laptop?
A: No, only one trade-in per household or customer.

Q: How long do I have from the date of purchase of my new laptop to file my trade-in claim?
A: You have 21 days to file your claim, and your old laptop must be shipped to Adorama within 30 days.

Q: Do all parts be OEM, or a replacement is also good?
A: As long as the laptop battery maintains a charge for 30 minutes it can contain replacement parts.

Q: If the charging cable got a bit torn & was taped together is it good?
A: The laptop must power up and normal wear and tear (such as missing buttons, small cracks, etc) are all acceptable.

&quot]Q: Does the laptop have to able to be powered up on the battery power or is it ok if it powers up via the AC cord? [/FONT]
A: The battery needs to hold power for 30 minutes.

Q: If my battery doesn't work or my cord is broken, can I buy a replacement battery or cord and send it back with that?
A: Yes, as long as the replacement battery holds power for 30minutes.

Q: I bought my old laptop outside of the US, do I qualify?
A: No, the model you are sending back has to be a US version.

Q: Does my trade in laptop have to be a Dell or Microsoft laptop?
A: No, it can be any brand, as long it's a US model.

Q: How do I get paid?
A: You will get the reward wired into your PayPal account. (A PayPal account is required for this promotion)

Q: How long will it take to get my return laptop validated to determine whether it qualifies or not?
A: A maximum of 2-3 weeks from the trade in center receiving the product.

Q: What if my laptop has minor damage other than standard wear and tear (for example missing buttons or large dents)?
A: The trade in center will most likely contact you and determine the amount of cash back you will receive.

Tried to go through the terms and conditions and it does not detail how they determine the $200-$300 amount.

Does it matter, most of these are well below the lowest sell prices out there, and surface pro 4 price is unheard of

Plus these are skylake versions of dell xps 13, the latest & greatest version well below any one else's price.

so if I am understanding this correctly that means that ANY laptop qualifies for the same amount of trade in value? and that the trade in value is actually determined by the model of device that is purchased instead of the value of the device being traded in?

I think people (like myself) are confused because "up-to" typically means "you only get the full value if you trade in a brand new $2000 laptop." To me this looks like you can get a MINIMUM $200 trade in value depending on the device you buy.

Any further clarification would be greatly appreciated, very slick if I am interpreting this correctly.

correct, as long as you send back a laptop in stable condition that powers up you will get the $$ amount based on what model you buy. even if the laptop you are trading I'm costed you 100 bucks bramd new, you will still get 300 bicks if you buy a product that qualities for 300 bucks

there are 2 models that only quality for $200 the reat all qualify for $300

Did Adorama update their return policy? I don't see laptop's as not returnable any more? My concern is you only find out if your item qualifies after you purchase the new laptop.

Edit: Never mind, I see it's still there now.

it says how much you are getting back on eavh sku you buy. the value you get back is determined based on the sku you buy. not what you send back

Can I only trade in a Dell computer or any brand?

I purchased a Surface Pro last month (outside claim period), but it didn't ship until today (inside claim period). What do you think my chances are of getting Adorama to re-process my purchase with today's date, or otherwise allow this promotion? I hate to return the computer when it arrives and just order another one in order to get free money for an old junk laptop.
